For the hapless downtrodden dirt-farmer Jabez Stone (James Craig), the offer of seven years good luck in exchange for his soul from a Mr Scratch (Walter Huston), proves too irresistable to refuse. But when those seven years draw to a close, Jabez realises the error of his ways and requires the help of the beloved and almost mythical local politician Daniel Webster (Edward Arnold) to rescue him from eternal damnation!

Initially dismissed by its studio,having undergone several re-cuts and re-titling, it is only in recent years that this overlooked classic has garnered the accolades it deserves.
Now available in its full original edit, this film has it ALL... Oscar winning Bernard Herrman score, luscious cinematography, sultry Simone Simon performance and the definitive portrayal of 'Old Nick' himself by Walter Huston.
